It shows step by step how to obtain a vintage lamp from Ikea with our Pintyplus Evolution to turn it into a DIY vintage lamp. As you can see it is very simple, professional and at the same time creative.
Materials for DIY vintage lamp:
- A desk lamp, in this case is from Ikea.
- 1 bottle of spray paint PINTYPLUS Evolution.
- 1 wax jar for furniture.
- Masking tape.
- Sandpaper.
Step 1: preparation
Dismantled the lamp to be able to paint it more easily. Cover the areas that are not going to paint, such as cables, switches or electrical connections with masking tape or similar.
Step 2: wax
The objective of this step is to ‘dirty’ the lamp with wax in those areas that we want the paint doesn’t adhere and therefore once painted, it flakes giving the appearance of aged or vintage. We can help with a brush or cloth, or directly with the tips of our fingers. Above all, blur the areas as live songs or make movements to stimulate the wear of the years.
Step 3: paint
It is covered with newspaper or plastic film brimosla area where we are going to paint, the pot is shaken for a few seconds so that the paint is properly mixed inside and begins to paint. We recommend giving the first touch outside the object to be painted to verify the pressure and stroke to see the optimal distance. Always thin layers. It`s the grace of spray paint, which can paint without any problem that there will be no brushstrokes.
Step 4: finishing
emove the painter’s tape from the lamp and lightly sand the entire lamp, looking especially for the areas where we have placed the wax. Sand edges between the waxed and painted part to soften the effect.
