We are often faced with the problem that our various household appliances, washing machines, refrigerators, microwave oven, etc. small defects occur which begin to rust over time. It also happens that a machine is still in perfect condition, but over time it has turned very yellow and we want to do it. That’s when the solution comes: repainting your home appliance. In this post, we reveal the most important information about painting home appliances.
But what is the first step in repainting a home appliance?
The surface of household appliances is usually very nice and even, so be sure to spray paint the surface. Brushed paint will not be as beautiful on the surface due to brush marks. The choice between paint sprays is also quite large, so it’s good to be aware of what product to choose.
We can simply use a good quality acrylic spray, which is usually available in a wide range of colors. This is recommended if you do not want a white or stainless steel color. In the case of white, the problem is the yellowing of the surface, so in this case, we would recommend a special household appliance paint spray. This product is not only a top but also a primer, so it better prevents rusting.
Before painting, it is absolutely important to clean the surface properly and, if possible, sand the surface with paper sand. Remove the rust from the surface. This is the most important step, because if you paint on a greasy, oily surface or rust, unfortunately, the end result will not be lasting. Shake the vial for at least 1 minute before staining. When painting, be sure to spray the paint vertically and then horizontally on the surface from a distance of about 20-25 cm. The drying time usually doesn’t take more than a quarter of an hour, so we can get the process done quickly enough.
If you want to paint the inside of a microwave oven, be sure to use a paint that does not contain metal particles. So, for example, DO NOT USE Inox home appliance paint inside. It is best to use PintyPlus TECH white household paint spray, but in this case, follow the steps below:
- Surface degreasing
- Surface painting
- With the door open, allow drying for another 24 hours
After following the process, we can use the oven with confidence, because the harmful solvents evaporate completely.
